Kalispell's holiday shopping starts on Friday, November 13, at three venues away from Main Street. That day The Market Beautiful opens at the Flathead County Fairgrounds, the Holiday Extravaganza opens at Majestic Valley Arena, and Christmas at The Collective begins at Snowline Acres on U.S. 93 South. Downtown's signature evening, the Holiday Stroll, comes three weeks later, on Friday, December 4.
This year downtown has made a change. As the Daily Inter Lake reported, the Stroll is growing from one evening to two days, and the stated reason is to generate more business downtown. If you know how November plays out at the edges of town, the downtown change is easier to understand, and it's easier to plan your weekends.
November 13 Opens Three Doors at Once
The season starts the night before. Snowline Acres hosts First Glimpse of Christmas, a ticketed preview, on Thursday, November 12, from 4 to 7 p.m. at The Collective, 3315 U.S. 93 South. The next day, three events open within hours of each other.
| Event | Venue | Dates | Hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Market Beautiful | Flathead County Fairgrounds | Nov. 13–14 | Fri. early shopping 5–8 p.m.; Sat. general admission 10 a.m.–4 p.m. |
| Holiday Extravaganza | Majestic Valley Arena | Nov. 13–15 | Hours not yet published |
| Christmas at The Collective | Snowline Acres, 3315 U.S. 93 South | Opens Nov. 13 | Tue.–Sat. 10 a.m.–5 p.m. |
The three events draw different crowds. The Market Beautiful is a vintage and whimsy market. Its Friday evening slot is set aside for early shopping before Saturday's general admission. The Holiday Extravaganza is the biggest by vendor count. Discover Kalispell lists more than 100 vendors from across the Pacific Northwest, and it runs through Sunday the 15th. Snowline Acres doesn't wrap up after a weekend. It opens on the 13th and stays open for the next month.
For anyone planning a single November weekend, this is the one when the most is open at the same time. A Friday evening at the Fairgrounds can lead into a Saturday split between The Collective's shop hours and the arena, which stays open through Sunday.
Snowline Acres Runs on Its Own Calendar
Because the 13th is a Friday, the dates can get confusing. Some local calendars show Snowline's market starting November 20. On Snowline Acres' own schedule, November 20 is when fresh greenery arrives. The retail market itself opens a week earlier.
Here is the full sequence from Snowline's schedule:
- Thursday, November 12: First Glimpse of Christmas, a ticketed preview, 4–7 p.m.
- Friday, November 13: Christmas at The Collective begins, with regular hours Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Friday, November 20: Fresh greenery arrives.
- Sundays, November 22 and 29 and December 6: Extra Sunday hours, noon to 5 p.m.
- Saturday, December 12: Last day for greenery, while supplies last.
Snowline's season covers the whole window. It opens on the same day as the first big weekend, holds Sunday hours on Thanksgiving weekend, and keeps going a week past the Holiday Stroll. Its Sunday on December 6 falls right after downtown's new Saturday. That puts a Collective visit and a downtown visit on back-to-back days for anyone who wants both.
Thanksgiving Weekend Belongs to the Fairgrounds Again
After the November 13 weekend, the next big event goes back to the Flathead County Fairgrounds. The ACF Christmas Show, also listed as Christmas at the Fairgrounds, is an art show, craft fair and makers market in the Trade Center Building. It runs November 27 through 29, the Friday through Sunday after Thanksgiving. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Snowline Acres also opens that Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. So two of the season's busiest shopping weekends, mid-November and Thanksgiving, happen at the Fairgrounds, at Majestic Valley Arena and on U.S. 93 South. The Fairgrounds alone hosts three of the season's markets, counting The Prairie Sisters' vintage and handmade market on October 10.
By the time Main Street holds its own event, Kalispell has had three straight weeks of holiday markets somewhere else.
Downtown Adds a Saturday
The Holiday Stroll keeps its familiar Friday evening: 5 to 8 p.m. on December 4, with live music, a tree lighting and a visit from Santa Claus. What's new is Saturday, December 5, when family-friendly events continue during the day, according to the Daily Inter Lake.
The paper reports two Saturday plans so far:
- St. Matthew's Catholic School is expected to host a pancake breakfast and a holiday market.
- Kalispell Parks and Recreation is planning events, including ice skating at Woodland Park if the weather allows.
The Stroll is growing because of what organizers heard from attendees and business owners. Barb McVicker, the Kalispell Chamber of Commerce's director of operations and community engagement, told the Daily Inter Lake that the goal is to generate more business downtown.
"I think we're making some really great changes, and we're looking forward to a great holiday season downtown," McVicker told the Daily Inter Lake.
Seen against the calendar above, Saturday is a good choice. A Friday evening on Main Street mostly means music, lights and Santa. A Saturday morning with a pancake breakfast and a school holiday market brings families downtown during daytime shopping hours. Those are the same daytime hours the November markets keep.
A New Organizer Behind the Stroll
The new format comes with a new organizer. This is the first year Downtown Kalispell Forward is running the Holiday Stroll. The Kalispell Downtown Association, the nonprofit that used to run it, dissolved and folded into the Kalispell Chamber of Commerce in February 2025.
The Daily Inter Lake describes Downtown Kalispell Forward as a coalition the chamber launched to advocate for downtown businesses and to push City Hall on issues facing the neighborhood. It has taken over many of the association's old duties, and several former association board members are part of it. Its members are:
- The Business Improvement District
- The Tourism Improvement District
- The Flathead Builders Association
- The Northwest Association of Realtors
- The Kalispell Chamber of Commerce
A group built to advocate for downtown businesses is now running downtown's biggest holiday night. Its first change was to add more shopping hours. McVicker said she hopes the two-day schedule becomes a lasting tradition if it goes well this year.
Downtown Has New Things to Show
Some of what Stroll visitors will see this year is new since last December. Discover Kalispell reports that the KM Bar reopened in June 2026 after a remodel. The historic Kalispell Grand Hotel finished a major restoration of its lobby and main floor in early 2026. Glow Skin & Soul opened a downtown studio at 8 1st Street East, Suite 204.
For families, the Saturday plans add to what's already new in town. Wildtorium, the Flathead Valley's first children's museum, opened May 28. Flathead Sports Collective, a year-round play and practice space for kids ages 8 to 14, is at 1113 Custer Ave., Unit A, according to the Daily Inter Lake, and it held its ribbon-cutting on August 12, according to KPAX.
Here is the season in order, from first event to last:
- Nov. 12: First Glimpse of Christmas, Snowline Acres, 4–7 p.m., ticketed
- Nov. 13–15: The Market Beautiful at the Fairgrounds on the 13th and 14th, the Holiday Extravaganza at Majestic Valley Arena all three days, and Christmas at The Collective opening at Snowline Acres
- Nov. 20: Fresh greenery arrives at Snowline Acres
- Nov. 27–29: ACF Christmas Show, Trade Center Building, Flathead County Fairgrounds
- Dec. 4: Holiday Stroll, downtown Kalispell, 5–8 p.m.
- Dec. 5: Daytime Stroll events, including St. Matthew's pancake breakfast and holiday market, plus Woodland Park skating if the weather allows
- Dec. 12: Last day for greenery at Snowline Acres, while supplies last
The published Stroll schedule doesn't list a separate time for this year's tree lighting yet, so check the Kalispell Chamber's calendar the week of December 4 before you plan your evening around it.
Holiday weekends like these are when many of us see Kalispell at its most connected. That matters to Sandra West and the team at West & Company, who have spent two decades helping families put down roots in the Flathead Valley.
